Where were you on November 17, 2006?

November 17, 2006 was the official release date for Sony’s PlayStation 3 gaming system. It is estimated that only four hundred thousand PS3 were shipped while some industry experts state that the actual number of units shipped was probable closer to two hundred and fifty thousand models.

A limited number of these new PS3 game consoles were released in North America. Despite the PS3’s high price, participating stores sold out in only a few hours. Many retailers were unable to meet their PS3 preorder obligations. Many stores denied their employees their preordered in an effort to appease as many customers as possible..

Nearly the exact same thing happened on the Japanese release date of November 11th, a week earlier. In less then one day, over eighty one thousand PS3 game consoles were sold (or I should say SOLD OUT!)

Many industry insiders speculate that Sony purposely released a number of consoles that was much smaller then needed to increase the anticipation in the USA. American fans watched in anticipation as those across the ocean were already bringing their new PS3 game consoles home?

Many consumers have complained that the Sony PlayStation 3 release date was carefully thought out to generate maximum interest in the PS3 system. Annoyed shoppers have claimed that the shortage is nothing more than a publicity stunt by Sony to increase its declining share of the gaming industry market. With the competition’s new game consoles coming out in good supply and worries about the PS3 being double the price, one had to wonder?

Sony, of course, has denies any motivation has claimed that high research and development costs, production problems and delays by suppliers caused the slow launch. They had originally hoped for the PS3 release date to be in the spring.

Meanwhile, Europeans and Australians ponder why they have to wait for a PS3 release date of March 2007? This has angered many consumers there. Europeans and Australians find themselves asking if there is a reason why only Japan and North America were allowed to purchase ….

Europeans and Australians also find themselves pondering why Sony would threaten legal action against anyone who sells a North American model to a customer overseas.

Sony has promised to ship another million PS3 game consoles by the end of the year which will please many consumers who hope to give them as Christmas presents. Others will be buying them just to sell them for profit through auction sites like Ebay. Click Here For More Articles About: Video Games!
