A Review Of Call of Duty 3 PS3

Most gamers know that there are plenty of World War II games available to play. Among those WWII games is the Call of Duty series, and with each Call of Duty game, the aspect of fighting in World War II gets even more realistic and intense. Now with the new versions of Call of Duty 3 being released for both XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, gamers can relive one of the most graphic, action-packed wars in mankind history.

Those familiar with the Call of Duty 2 game already know that Call of Duty 3 is going to be amazingly spectacular. The game is basically the same scenario … which is fighting & killing Germans on all fronts. The set-up remains basically the same as you take the role of a few different soldiers (America, Britain, Canada, and Poland) and fight several different campaigns. Call of Duty 3 is set in 1944 and your objective is to try to drive the German forces out of France during the Normandy Invasion Breakout. Unlike the Call of Duty 2 game, Call of Duty 3 has better more developed characters. There also seems to be more background for each of the soldiers which you find out more about while playing the game.

As for the actual combat, Call of Duty 3 has everything you would expect in a World War II game. The enemy appears to be a fairly advanced opponent. Enemies will go under cover whenever they are being fired upon, and they will quickly alert all others to nearby grenades. Those things may have existed in Call of Duty 2, but it seems they have a much quicker reaction time to changing environments in Call of Duty 3.

To stay alive in the game, you will need to find cover quickly while moving from engagement to engagement. Your fellow soldiers will move with you as you move, so its easy to tell when you need to dive for cover when you see several of them will drop dead due to incoming enemy fire. Unfortunately, this game has no lean function as most Call of Duty 3 players would agree that it would be nice to lean up against a wall and snipe the enemy. But the duck & cover method seems to work pretty well as it allows players to simply crouch then pop up and fire.

Most PS3 gamers know that the Call of Duty series is not just your average first person shooter game. Actually as you play Call of Duty 3 you will have to rely more on tactical strategy as you must choose your shots. You also must think about your next move. For example, you could always around with a Thompson submachine gun shooting wildly at the Germans but you wont’ last very long with that tactic. You have to look at the battle field surroundings and then plan what to do next.

The Playstation 3 Sixaxis controller also has a few helpful uses while playing Call of Duty 3. When a German sneaks up and grabs you, to break free of him you can struggle by tilting the controller rapidly. That whole struggling scene is quite intense, but fortunately it does not happen very often. Another helpful aspect of the controller is that of driving vehicles. You will hold the controller like a steering wheel and tilt it in order to turn left and right. It may not sound very thrilling, but once you have tried it, you'll see how fun it really is.

The graphics and sound of Call of Duty 3 are quite wonderful. Although the XBOX 360 version of Call of Duty 3 seems to have a slightly better frame rate, the PS3 version has superb quality details and exceptional level design. But you may have a hard time appreciating the beautifully designed scenery when you have bullets whizzing all around your head. The cut-scenes have been excellently designed and implemented into each and every campaign.

After you are tired of playing single player campaigns, you can move onto the real fun battles which is online play. Players can play the basic "Call of Duty" online matches such as: team battle, battle, capture-the-flag, head-quarters, etc. There are also about 9 different multiplayer maps to choose from, ranging from large levels to smaller enclosed ones.

One big change though is that now instead of being an ordinary "grunt" soldier, players can choose to be a more specific type of soldier. For example, you could be a medic and revive fallen players, or you could be an anti-tank personnel who takes out armored vehicles. There are 6 different classes in all, so there should be something for everyone.

Another cool aspect of online play is that of the vehicles. There will be times when you can jump into a vehicle and drive around. Different maps will have different vehicles to use, but expect to see tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles throughout your online play.

In conclusion, Call of Duty 3 is a must have game title for Playstation 3 owners. Even if you are not a fan of Call of Duty, this game will more then likely change your mind as it is a fantastic game that will give you plenty of fun & entertainment. Click Here For More Articles About: Video Games!
