Nintendo Wii Review: Excite Truck
include("http://www.videogamz.com/ssi/rightcolumn.txt"); ?>
Excite Truck brings you a big-air experience like no other game! Players blast their trucks across dynamically changing terrain in this nitrous-injectedgame built for speed junkies. Excite Truck shows the Wii controller's versatility as gamers tilt the controller on its side to use it as a wireless steering wheel!
Excite Truck is the first Nintendo Wii game that will require you to sit to truly enjoy the gaming experience. Excite Truck certainly isn’t a traditional racing game, because it’s definitely the opposite. Similar to Nintendo’s Excitebike, Excite Truck is an arcade style racing game in which finishing first is not the only way to win.
One of the first things you notice when playing Excite Truck is the incredibly fast pace. The races are amazingly fast and require you to stay on your toes. One false turn and you’re history. The single-player game is too short with only about a dozen playable tracks. The multi-player mode though consists of a 2-player split-screen race. Although this is a welcome addition, I feel that a 4-player multi-player mode would have been quite a bit better. Having only a 2-player multi-player mode with only 12 tracks to race on, makes Excite Truck’s replay ability quite low. Once you’re mastered the single-player experience, there isn’t really anything to entice you to play again.
A great feature of Excite Truck is that you can import your own music into the game. This is done via SD Card. The handling in the game is also quite amazing although it does take a little time to get used to it.
Excite Truck displays how versatile the Wii remote really is. You simply turn it on its side and use it as a steering while. The accuracy and control are fantastic. The controls take a little bit of getting used to, simply because you’ve never played a game this way. A steering wheel attachment is available but not necessary to play.
The graphics in Excite Truck are actually quite beautiful as the game features great textures and visual effects, as well as great level design.
The default soundtrack for the races is quite a disappointment. However, Excite Truck allows you to import your own songs via an SD Card. This is a great addition that adds a needed personal touch to the game.
